I’ve been asked a lot about doing this. So I’m running a session on Dec 19th explaining the basic functions and principles. I’m confident by the end of the 2 hours, even if you have never used GarageBand before, you will be able to understand what do do and how to do it to make real nice quality recordings at home.

Suitable for ALL! Does not matter what instrument you play or experience you have!

Over the last few years I have often been employed to record flute playing remotely for various companies and productions. Of course, over the past 9 months this has multiplied hugely. Before COVID times, I have been employed fairly regularly to record in professional studios mostly working with a programme called Pro Tools. As a flute player, I have always been quite hands on with the process to make sure I’m happy with the sound but I have also co-produced a few albums including my own and even co-produced Journey by Jon Moses which got to No. 5 in the classical charts. For home recording, GaragageBand for Mac has been very successful for me. Rarely have I needed to do something it’s not capable of. Over the last 9 months I have used it to record professionally (at home) for:

Dreamworks

Wonderful Winds

Galway Flute Festival

Eurovision Song Contest

Barry Ball Artists

Fruitcake Productions

Aodyio Instruments

Beaumont Music

Yamaha

GarageBand is available for free on Mac and iPhone/iPad. The iPhone/iPad version is much more limited so we will be using the Mac version in this session. It’s free to download and straightforward to use once you know how. Let me show you the basics and you will be amazed how useful it can be and WILL BE in the future as well. Not just for commercial work but also for exams, auditions, pre-screening and teaching. These are invaluable skills, that as a professional musician, I would not have been able to survive the last few months without.

PLEASE NOTE: THIS SESSION IS USING GARAGEBAND ON MAC!
